My Explorer needs tires but I cant get any tire shop to put them on?

its a 92 i have checked on line and my car was not part of the recall they will only put passenger car tires on it but i plan to drive it off-road like sand rock and dirt. so i need some tread that will dig in. i have gone to 2 national tire places goodyear and discount tire centers i have also taken it to walmart and one of those used tire places right now i cant drive it because the steel belt is no longer part of the tire|||I don't understand what your issue is. Ford Explorer's came with Passenger-Metric All-Terrain tires, usually in a Standard Load P235/75R15 105S size as original equipment. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY should be putting tires designed for passenger cars on an Explorer! Your choices in a good all-terrain tire in this size are limited to just a few hundred different models since this is still the best-selling tire size on the planet. Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo is my favorite choice but the Firestone Destination AT is a good lower-priced alternative. Goodyear has a new version of the Wrangler out (not the RT/S - horrible tire) that should be good too and Michelin has the LTX AT2 which just came out. The hard-to-find but excellent Nokian Vatiiva is a great choice if you live where it snows.

Or are you talking about trying to put LT-Metric (LT235/75R15 104/101Q Load Range C) sized tires on? That I absolutely would not do on an Explorer, and there is no reason to either. P-metrics in the factory recommended size work just fine.

ASE, Bridgestone/Firestone and Michelin certified automotive service manager intimately aware of the tire needs of Ford Explorers.|||Go to Pep Boys, Just Tires or a similar shop and have the tires put on, people who sell tires should be glad to get your business. If not go else where.|||SOMETIMES THEY WILL CAUSE YOU PROBLEMS, LIKE RUBBING ON THE WHEEL WELLS OR ON YOU FENDER WHEN YOU TURN. GO TO AN OFF ROAD TIRE STORE AND LET THEM DECIDE WHAT TIRE WILL GO ON WITHOUT PROBLEMS. YOU MAY HAVE TO PUT DIFFERENT SHOCKS OR SPRINGS ON TO ACCOMODATE YOUR NEW TIRES.|||See if these guys have a store in your area, wherever that is.

http://dickcepek.com/|||even if your car was part of the firestone recall, the recall was over 7 years ago.

Find a Big-O tires and tell them you want the Big-Foot XT.

Or goto walmart, and pick out BF Goodrich A/T's.

there's NO reason why you shouldn't be able to buy tires.

I wouldn't tell them you're going to go offroading.. as there is a hazard warranty on the tires, and these shops probably don't want to swap tires for you all the time if you chew them up.|||Hi:Have You Tried Firestone,Or National Tire And Battery,Just Tires? If Not Look Up A Off Road Tire Store.I Have A 97 Explorer And I Can Find All Kinds Of Tires.Hope This Helps.Catch Ya Later.
