And don't fuss about the date code either. If your car is an 08' model your tires would have been manufacturered no more than a few months before the car was built so they are in no way "overaged". I have never, ever seen old inventory mounted on a new car out of the factory and I've been doing this for a while.
Some folks watch too much TV.|||Absolutely NOT dangerous! Some surface cracking in the tire is completely normal and routine. Tires are the #1 piece of safety equipment on the vehicle - I wouldn't tell you they were OK if they were not.

|||There is a code on all tires when they are made. It tells you when ( what year ) the tire was made. Some places put old tires on new cars.....so even though a tire has never been on a car and on the road...it may still be old. The rubber the tires are made from starts getting harder as it gets older. The rubber cures with more heat...curing is what makes the soft rubber harden up in the molds when they make the tires. High heat will make your tires get harder and start cracking. You can use some WD40 on them to soften up the hard rubber....do not use Armour All or those other tire treatments that make the tires look good....those only harden up and crack them even more.
Take it back to Discount tire and ask them to show you the coding on the tires and what year it was made. It it shows to be several years old...I would head back to your car dealer and tell them you want newer tires on your car.|||look for the "born on date" they dont tell you about these, but i will tell you how you can find out exactly how old your "new" tires are.
its on the backside of the tire, yes they hide it.
its 4 numbers that is circled or indented in the tire . it will look similiar to this. 0208... the first two numbers represent the week of the year and the last two numbers indicate the year. so 0208 means they were made in the 2nd week of the year 2008. they had a big thing on tv about this, where people were buying "new" tires that had sat in the store for years. they found tires that was made all the way back up to 12 years ago!!! people were having blow outs on these things, and the tire dealers just acted like they didnt know about it, but they do!!
check this and if the date indicates the tires are more than a year old, demand a new set of tires. this is a very dangerous situation, dateline hired a experienced driver to try out one of these "new" tires that was 12 years old and guess what...he couldnt even control it when it blew, ended up in the hospital. these tires dont blow like a normal tire blows, the tread peels off in one piece and rolls around the rest until it fails, thus gives the slippery feeling like riding on ice.|||They want to pass a law that all new tires be stamped with their date of manufacture. New tires laying around for three years are considered dry and could pose a safety hazard. Did you use any cleaner on your tires?|||No way! That's a 100% lie. You must demand a replacement. You might have a blown tire if you insist on using it, may cost you your life. I call it FACTORY DEFECT.|||Get a second opinion. Its hard for me to say without being able to see the tyres but this does not sound safe.|||no its not true and i am surprized cause that place is good place take it back and demand to see the boss and raise hell.
